Research shows that donors do not respond well to online acquisitions -- unless you are a very well-known nonprofit organization and there has just been a devastating natural disaster.
For most nonprofits, far more people respond to and give higher donations to direct mail solicitations than to online solicitations. This has been found to be true for acquisitions and renewals -- maintaining direct marketing as the best method for aquiring and retaining donors.
