Even with the technology available today, direct mail acquisition is still the most cost-effective way for most nonprofit organizations to attract large numbers of new donors. Direct Mail is expensive however, underscoring the importance of donor stewardship through a timely acknowledgement program and donor upgrades through an effective renewal program.
Acquisition is key to growing your support base, but it is what you do with donors once you have them that really pays off over the long term.
